এক কাপ / এগিলাচ / এক কেজি
Measure Words
A measure word sits between the number and the thing: এক কাপ চাহ “a cup of tea”.
How It Works
These words measure something you do not count one by one, such as tea or milk.
| Measure | Example |
|---|---|
| কাপ cup | এক কাপ চাহ “a cup of tea” |
| গিলাচ glass | এগিলাচ পানী “a glass of water” |
| কেজি kilo | এক কেজি আলু “a kilo of potatoes” |
| লিটাৰ litre | এক লিটাৰ গাখীৰ “a litre of milk” |
The whole phrase can be an answer to কিমান. It also works in a request: মোক এগিলাচ পানী দিয়ক “please give me a glass of water”.
The words কাপ, গিলাচ, কেজি and লিটাৰ come from English and are written with Assamese letters.
