This Person and That Person

Level 1Sounds Like ē'ijana / sē'ijana

এইজন is “this person” and সেইজন is “that person”: এইজন মোৰ ককাই “this is my elder brother”.

How It Works

These words stand for a person without naming the person. They are handy when you introduce people.

PersonNearFar
a man, or any personএইজনসেইজন
a woman or a girlএইজনীসেইজনী

A noun can follow them: এইজন চীনা মানুহ। “This man is Chinese.”

In an introduction, say the pointing word first and then who the person is to you: এইজন মোৰ ককাই। “This is my elder brother.” To ask who a person is, use কোন: সেইজন কোন? “Who is that person?”

Use them for people. Things take -টো and flat things take -খন.
