This One and That One

Level 1Sounds Like ē'iṭō / sē'iṭō

এইটো is “this one” and সেইটো is “that one”: এইটো কি? “what is this?”.

How It Works

এইটো and সেইটো stand where a noun would be, so you do not need to name the thing.

With a nounAlone
এই কিতাপ “this book”এইটো “this one”
সেই কলম “that pen”সেইটো “that one”

They point at things and animals. For a person use এইজন and সেইজন, and for a flat thing use এইখন and সেইখন.

Both words stand for one thing or one animal. They can make a full sentence, as in এইটো মোৰ। “This one is mine.”

এইটো often starts a question or a short statement: এইটো কি? “what is this?”, সেইটো নহয়। “that is not it.”
