munosabati bilan
On the Occasion of
Noun + munosabati bilan = on the occasion of, in connection with: Mustaqillik kuni munosabati bilan (on the occasion of Independence Day).
How It Works
1. Building the phrase
Put the occasion right before it, usually with no -ning, as in any noun pair without -ning. Munosabat always carries its -i:
- Navroʻz bayrami munosabati bilan (on the occasion of the Navruz holiday)
- maktabning ellik yilligi munosabati bilan (to mark the school's fiftieth anniversary)
2. On the occasion of
Its best-known use is with holidays, anniversaries and celebrations: Mustaqillik kuni munosabati bilan shaharda bayram konserti boʻlib oʻtdi (A holiday concert took place in the city on the occasion of Independence Day). Official greetings often start with it: Navroʻz bayrami munosabati bilan barchangizni chin qalbimdan tabriklayman (On the occasion of Navruz, I warmly congratulate you all). In a personal greeting, tabriklamoq simply takes bilan: Tugʻilgan kuningiz bilan tabriklayman! (Happy birthday!)
3. In connection with
In notices it can give a reason: Taʼmirlash ishlari munosabati bilan kutubxona vaqtincha yopiq (The library is closed for a while because of repair work). In everyday speech, sababli is more usual for reasons.
4. Shu munosabat bilan
After a pointing word or har (every), the -i drops: shu munosabat bilan (in this connection, on this occasion), har munosabat bilan (on every occasion).
5. The plain word
On its own, munosabat means relationship or attitude: doʻstona munosabat (a friendly relationship). Only the set phrase with bilan means on the occasion of.
