-ga bagʻishlangan
Dedicated to
-ga bagʻishlangan means dedicated to. Put the person, day or topic in the -ga case: Navroʻzga bagʻishlangan bayram (a celebration dedicated to Navruz).
How It Works
The verb. Bagʻishlamoq means to dedicate or to devote. It takes the receiver in the -ga case: U kitobini oʻqituvchisiga bagʻishladi (He dedicated his book to his teacher). Umrini ilmga bagʻishladi means he devoted his life to science.
Bagʻishlangan. The passive -gan form describes the thing that is dedicated:
- Before a noun: Navroʻzga bagʻishlangan konsert (a concert dedicated to Navruz)
- At the end of a sentence: Bu sheʼr onamga bagʻishlangan (This poem is dedicated to my mother)
Events. Announcements often use the past passive bagʻishlandi: Konferensiya ekologiya muammolariga bagʻishlandi (The conference was devoted to environmental problems). Such events often take place on a holiday, so the phrase often appears with munosabati bilan (on the occasion of).
Topics. With books, lessons and meetings, -ga bagʻishlangan can mean devoted to the subject of. For a looser link, use -ga oid.
