آئیے / چلیے + Subjunctive
Suggesting a Shared Action
آئیے → let us take the next step together.
How It Works
آئیے and چلیے can introduce a polite proposal to act together. The following first-person plural subjunctive ends in a nasal vowel, as in بیٹھیں, دیکھیں, or کریں.
These opening words can also be literal commands to come or move. In a shared proposal, they help invite the listener into the next activity; چلیے does not always mean physical walking.
ہم can be stated for clarity, but the verb and situation often make it unnecessary. The proposal differs from an instruction aimed only at the listener.
