-تا / -تی / -تے + آنا
Continuing Up to a Reference Point
Use this pattern to give the history behind a current practice.
How It Works
A duration phrase can name the earlier period: ہم برسوں سے یہ کام کرتے آئے ہیں. The group has followed the practice over those years; the sentence does not claim uninterrupted work every minute.
The subject controls both the habitual participle and the later agreement. With a feminine subject, use کرتی آئی ہے. Do not add نے merely because the described practice includes earlier completed occasions.
Contrast a single completed act with an established practice. ایک خط لکھا ہے reports one written letter; خط لکھتے آئے ہیں can describe a continuing history of correspondence.
