A Common Feminine Plural

Level 1

Watch the nasal ending in both writing and pronunciation when a feminine ī noun names several items.

How It Works

ایک چابی becomes دو چابیاں. The final ی changes to یاں.

نئی کرسیاں means new chairs. نئی agrees with the feminine plural noun.

In چابیاں میز پر ہیں, the plural subject takes ہیں.

With a postposition, use the oblique plural: چابیوں سے means with the keys.
