The Six Cases
Nominative, genitive, dative, accusative, locative and instrumental express relationships in the sentence.
How It Works
Nominative, genitive, dative, accusative, locative and instrumental express relationships in the sentence. Standard Slovenian has no separate productive vocative case; use the nominative for ordinary direct address.
For knjiga, a singular practice chain is knjiga, knjige, knjigi, knjigo, pri knjigi, s knjigo. Dative and locative can look identical; the governing word identifies their role. A repeated ending is not evidence that the two cases have the same function.
