Feminine Accusative in -o

Feminine Direct Objects

Level 2

Many feminine nouns ending in -a use -o as the accusative singular.

How It Works

Many feminine nouns ending in -a use -o as the accusative singular. An agreeing adjective follows the same case; this pattern does not cover feminine consonant-stem nouns such as noč.

Start with knjiga → knjigo and nova knjiga → novo knjigo. Every agreeing word must change, not only the noun. Negation introduces a separate case change: Ne berem nove knjige uses genitive rather than this affirmative accusative pattern.

Examples (3)

  1. Berem knjigo.

    I am reading a book.

  2. Imam novo torbo.

    I have a new bag.

  3. Vidim Ano.

    I see Ana.
