Object Pronouns li, lor
To Him, To Her, To Them
Li is to him or to her. Lor is to them.
How It Works
| Pronoun | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
| li | to him, to her | Li parli. |
| lor | to them | Lor doni lo libre. |
They go with verbs such as parlar, donar, dire, telefonar and escriure, where a person receives something or is spoken to. Li disi la vertat means I tell him or her the truth.
Li covers both genders, so Li parli can mean I speak to him or to her. Compare lo and la, which name the person you see and show the gender: Lo vesi, La vesi.
The pronoun lor looks like the possessive lor, their. As a pronoun it stands before a verb. As a possessive it stands before a noun: lor libre.
