The Preposition En

Level 1

En is used before a country and before a language.

How It Works

En means "in" in a few set uses. It names a country (en França), a language (en occitan) and a month (en març).

PhraseMeaning
en Françain France
en occitanin Occitan
en marçin March

Cities take a and countries take en: Demòri a Tolosa. and Demòri en França. Do not use one for the other.

This is the preposition en. The pronoun is ne in Languedocien, as you learn later, so en never stands for "of it" or "some".
