Questions with a Preposition
The preposition comes first: De qué parlas? Amb qui vas?
How It Works
| Ask about | Pattern | Example |
|---|---|---|
| a topic | de qué | De qué parlatz? |
| a person you go with | amb qui | Amb qui anatz a Tolosa? |
| a person you write to | a qui | A qui escrives? |
| a person it is for | per qui | Per qui es aquel libre? |
| a thing you think about | a qué | A qué pensas? |
| a place you come from | d'ont | D'ont venes? |
English often puts the preposition at the end: Who are you talking with? In Occitan the preposition stays in front: Amb qui parlas?
The preposition the verb needs does not change: pensar a gives A qué pensas? and parlar de gives De qué parlas?
