qui
Who
Qui asks who.
How It Works
Qui asks about a person. With es it asks who someone is: Qui es aquel òme? (Who is that man?) When qui is the subject of an action, the verb is in the he or she form: Qui va al mercat? (Who is going to the market?)
Keep qui and qué apart. Qui asks about a person, and qué about a thing or an action: Qui es? (Who is it?), Qu'es? (What is it?).
Some Languedocien writers use qual for "who": Qual es? This course teaches qui, which is also common in print.
