მექნება/მეყოლება
Will Have
Feeling and having verbs have their own future: მექნება (I will have a thing), მეყოლება (I will have a person).
How It Works
Feeling and having verbs make their future in their own way. They do not add a preverb. Instead the person marker is followed by -ე-, and the verb ends in -ება:
| Present | Future | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| მაქვს | მექნება | I will have (a thing) |
| მყავს | მეყოლება | I will have (a person or animal) |
| მიყვარს | მეყვარება | I will love |
| მომწონს | მომეწონება | I will like |
Change the person marker for other people: გექნება (you will have), ექნება (he or she will have), გვექნება (we will have).
As in the present, the person who has is in the dative and the thing is in the nominative: ნინოს ახალი სამსახური ექნება (Nino will have a new job).
Keep the difference between things and people: მექნება for a car or time, მეყოლება for a child, a friend or a dog.
