აი
Here Is
Use აი to point something out: here is, here it is, look.
How It Works
English needs a verb, as in here is or there it is. Georgian uses აი alone: აი, ჩემი სახლი (here is my house). The thing you point to stays in its plain form.
Common uses:
- Showing someone: აი, ჩემი ძმა (here's my brother).
- Handing something over: აი, შენი ყავა (here's your coffee).
- Noticing something: აი, ნინო მოდის! (look, here comes Nino!)
- Finding something: აი, აქ არის! (here it is!)
აი goes with a gesture or a look, so it belongs to speech and dialogue more than to formal writing. When you hand something to someone politely, you will also hear ინებეთ (here you are).
