The adverbial -ად also means as (in a role) or into (a new form).

How It Works

After a vowel, -ად shortens to -დ: თამადა → თამადად. Nouns that lose a vowel in other cases lose it here too: საჩუქარი → საჩუქრად, მასწავლებელი → მასწავლებლად.

You know -ად from words like კარგად (well) and ქართულად (in Georgian). The role meaning is the same case with another job.

Leaving out -ად changes the meaning: ექიმი მუშაობს means the doctor is working.

    მასწავლებელი loses a vowel.
