Going to See Someone with پیش

Level 3

To go to a place, use به. To go to see a person, use پیش.

How It Works

A place takes بهA person takes پیش
به شفاخانه رفتم.پیش داکتر رفتم.
به خانه آمد.پیش ما آمد.

The word پیش shows who you visit or stay with. A name or a noun follows it directly: پیش مادرم, پیش احمد. With a pronoun, add the ending: پیشم (to me, with me), پیشت (to you, with you), پیشش (to him or her). A question uses کی: پیش کی می‌روی؟ (Who are you going to see?)

پیش also fits sitting and staying: پیش من بنشین (sit by me). After a length of time, پیش means ago, as in دو سال پیش.
