ဘယ်ဟာ / ဘယ်…
Which One
Many time questions use this ဘယ်: ဘယ်နေ့ (which day) and ဘယ်အချိန် (what time).
How It Works
These words match the pointing words you already know. ဒီ goes before a noun, and so does ဘယ်. ဒါ stands alone, and so does ဘယ်ဟာ.
| Pointing | Asking |
|---|---|
| ဒီဆိုင် (this shop) | ဘယ်ဆိုင် (which shop) |
| ဒါ (this one) | ဘယ်ဟာ (which one) |
| ဒီနေ့ (today) | ဘယ်နေ့ (which day) |
In a shop, hold up two things and ask ဘယ်ဟာ ကောင်းလဲ။ (Which one is better?). To ask about a time, use ဘယ်နေ့ or ဘယ်အချိန်: ဘယ်နေ့ လာမလဲ။ (Which day will you come?).
The answer uses the matching pointing word: ဒါ ယူမယ်။ (I'll take this one.) or ဟိုဟာ ယူမယ်။ (I'll take that one over there.)
