Unreal Present With bih
Unreal Present
Da plus the present, then bih plus the participle, describes something unreal now.
How It Works
This pattern speaks about things that are not so now.
| Part | Form |
|---|---|
| if-part | Da imam vremena (da + present) |
| result | došao bih (bih + participle) |
Full sentence: Da imam vremena, došao bih. (If I had time, I would come. I do not have time.)
The conditional is formed with bih, bi, bi, bismo, biste, bi and the participle: vozio bih, išla bi.
You can also use Kad bih imao vremena, došao bih. It means the same.
Be careful with da bih, which means "in order to": Učim da bih razumio. The unreal if-part uses da and the plain present.
