Past Participle Endings
Infinitive minus -ti, plus -o, -la, -lo, -li, -le or -la.
How It Works
The past participle is the second half of the perfect. It matches the subject.
| Masculine | Feminine | Neuter | |
|---|---|---|---|
| singular | čitao | čitala | čitalo |
| plural | čitali | čitale | čitala |
With -iti verbs the pattern is the same: radio, radila. Verbs ending in -ati take -ao in the masculine: čitati gives čitao.
For a mixed group of men and women, the masculine plural is used: Amir i Emina su radili. For djeca (children) you will usually hear the neuter plural, djeca su igrala.
Verbs in -ći and a few others are irregular. They get their own entry. Some verbs also change a vowel because of the ijekavian pattern: vidjeti gives vidio and vidjela.
