Wanting: hoću
Hoću = I want. The forms are: hoću, hoćeš, hoće, hoćemo, hoćete, hoće.
How It Works
The infinitive is htjeti (to want), but you will mostly use the present forms:
| Person | Form |
|---|---|
| ja | hoću |
| ti | hoćeš |
| on, ona, ono | hoće |
| mi | hoćemo |
| vi | hoćete |
| oni, one, ona | hoće |
After hoću you can put a noun or a verb. A noun goes in the accusative: Hoću kafu. A verb is usually in the infinitive: Hoću jesti. In speech, da + present is also common: Hoću da jedem.
The negative is neću, nećeš, neće, nećemo, nećete, neće. A question is Hoćeš li kafu?
Because hoću is direct, a polite request in a shop or restaurant usually sounds better with želim or htio bih. Among friends, hoću is fine.
