Present of -ati Verbs
Take off -ati and add six endings.
How It Works
The infinitive of many Bosnian verbs ends in -ati. To get the present, remove -ati and add these endings:
| Person | Form |
|---|---|
| ja | čitam |
| ti | čitaš |
| on, ona, ono | čita |
| mi | čitamo |
| vi | čitate |
| oni, one, ona | čitaju |
Other verbs that work the same way: igrati (play), kuhati (cook), pitati (ask), slušati (listen), gledati (watch).
Not every verb in -ati does this. Verbs like pisati (pišem), plakati (plačem) and kazati (kažem) change their stem and use the -em endings. When you learn a new verb, learn its ja form too.
