-त जाइल

Growing Step by Step

Level 4Sounds Like ta jā'ila

-त plus जाइल shows a steady change that keeps going.

How It Works

Use -त जाइल for a change that goes on over time. The first verb says what is changing. जाइल carries the tense.

TenseExample
Nowबढ़त जात बा
Pastबढ़त गइल
Futureबढ़त जाई

It often pairs with होखल for a state that changes: लमहर होत जात बा (is getting longer). Do not mix it with -त आवल, which says something has gone on up to now.

The -त रहल pattern is different. It means keep doing something. -त जाइल adds the idea of getting more or less over time.
