लइकन / किताबन

Plurals Before Postpositions: -न

Level 2Sounds Like la'ikana ā kitābana

लइका becomes लइकन before के: लइकन के.

How It Works

NounPlural before a postposition
लइकालइकन के
किताबकिताबन में
परिवारपरिवारन के
लोगलोगन से
खेतखेतन में

It tells you that the speaker means more than one: लइका के is to the boy, and लइकन के is to the boys.

You can also use लोग or सब, which are the plain plurals: लइका लोग के मिठाई दऽ.

Both ways are normal. The -न form is shorter, and the लोग form is more common in speech.

Hindi uses -ओं in the same place, as in लड़कों को. Do not use -ओं in Bhojpuri.
