तौ after a word puts weight on it: as for, really.
How It Works
तौ is a small word that points at what comes just before it. It has three common uses.

| as for (topic) | हम तौ घरे रहब, तुम जाव। |
| really, certainly | चाय तौ नीक अहै। |
| in contrast | ऊ तौ नाहीं आवा। |
In the first use, it sets one person or thing against the others: "as for me". In the second it adds the idea of "indeed". In the third it hints at a second part that is left unsaid: he did not come (though others did).
The same word starts the result in जौ ... तौ (if ... then). That use is separate: it opens a clause and does not sit after one word.
Put तौ right after the word that it stresses.

Your flat really is airy.
तौ stresses the flat.
- हम तौ घरे रहब, तुम जाव।
As for me, I will stay home; you go.
तौ sets हम against तुम.
- चाय तौ नीक अहै, पै चीनी कम अहै।
The tea is good, but the sugar is low.
तौ hints at the contrast that पै spells out.
- ऊ तौ नाहीं आवा।
He didn't come, though.
तौ marks the surprise.
