-हूँ

Too: -हूँ

Level 3Sounds Like hūm̐

-हूँ joins a word to mean too or even.

How It Works

-हूँ is a short ending that adds the meaning "too". It fuses with the word before it.

WordWith -हूँ
हम (I)हमहूँ (me too)
कब (when)कबहूँ (ever)
कहाँ (where)कहूँ (anywhere)

With a pronoun it means "also": हमहूँ चलब (I will come too). With a question word it means "ever" or "any": कबहूँ, कहूँ.

The separate word भी does the same job and sounds a bit more like Hindi: नेहा भी आई. Both are fine in speech.

The ending is joined to the word, so a space before -हूँ is a mistake. Forms such as तुमहूँ are also heard.
