-(i)b bermoq
Doing for Someone: -(i)b Bermoq
-(i)b + bermoq = do something for someone: Aytib bering (Please tell me), Menga kitob olib berdi (He got me a book).
How It Works
1. Doing a favor
These pairs are very common:
- aytib bermoq (to tell someone)
- koʻrsatib bermoq (to show someone)
- olib bermoq (to buy or get something for someone)
- tushuntirib bermoq (to explain to someone)
- oʻqib bermoq (to read to someone)
2. The person who benefits takes -ga
Mark that person with To or Toward: -ga: Onam bizga osh pishirib berdi. (My mother cooked osh for us.)
3. Polite requests
With Polite Commands: -(i)ng, this is one of the most useful ways to ask for a favor: Iltimos, eshikni ochib bering. (Please open the door for me.) It sounds softer than a bare command like Eshikni oching.
4. For someone else or for yourself?
Doing for Yourself: -(i)b olmoq is the opposite. It shows that you keep the result: Ukamga kitob olib berdim. (I bought a book for my little brother.) Oʻzimga kitob sotib oldim. (I bought a book for myself.)
5. -(i)b bermoq and -a bermoq are different
After the -a form, bermoq means go ahead or keep doing it: Ayta bering. (Go on, keep telling.) See Go Ahead and Keep Doing: -a bermoq.

Common Mistakes
Marking the person who benefits with -ni instead of -ga.
Meni yoʻlni koʻrsatib bering.Menga yoʻlni koʻrsatib bering. The person who gets the favor takes -ga: menga (to me). The thing shown takes -ni: yoʻlni.
Using the -a form when you mean please tell me.
