آپ کا / تمہارا / تیرا

Saying Your

Level 1

Choose the address form first, then match its ending to the thing possessed.

How It Works

With respect, say آپ کی کتاب کہاں ہے؟. The feminine noun کتاب chooses کی inside آپ کی.

With familiar تم, تمہارا قلم uses the masculine singular form. The owner is the listener; the pen controls the ending.

تیرا is marked and context-dependent. A learner should not use it with an unfamiliar person just because the noun is singular.

Masculine plural possessions use the e ending: آپ کے جوتے and تمہارے جوتے. The address level and the possessed noun each contribute information.
