نہ جانے
Expressing Uncertainty or Wonder
نہ جانے → who knows / I wonder.
How It Works
نہ جانے is an established uncertainty expression. It often introduces a question word such as کب, کہاں, or کیوں without asking the listener for a direct answer.
The following clause keeps the time and agreement it needs. The uncertainty may concern a past event, a present situation, or something still ahead.
The identical-looking word جانے also occurs in forms of جانا. Read the whole phrase: نہ جانے کیوں here signals wondering why, rather than forbidding travel.
