How It Works

اگرچہ introduces information the writer grants. The main clause then says what remains true despite that information, often with تاہم in formal prose.

Both statements can be true. The contrast concerns an expected implication, such as expecting a small sample to provide no useful clues.

تاہم makes the relation explicit but is not required after every اگرچہ clause. Distinguish اگر alone: that usually sets a condition rather than conceding a fact.

  1. اگرچہ نمونہ چھوٹا ہے، تاہم نتائج ایک اہم رجحان دکھاتے ہیں۔

    Although the sample is small, the results nevertheless show an important trend.

    The limitation is granted while a narrower useful finding is maintained.

  2. اگرچہ کام مشکل تھا، تاہم ٹیم نے ہمت نہیں ہاری۔

    Although the work was difficult, the team did not give up.

    Difficulty and persistence can both be true.

  3. اگرچہ وقت کم ہے، تاہم ہر سوال سنا جائے گا۔

    Although time is short, every question will still be heard.

    The main clause announces a commitment despite the constraint.

  4. اگرچہ دونوں طریقے مختلف ہیں، مقصد ایک ہی ہے۔

    Although the two methods differ, the goal is the same.

    The concessive meaning remains without an explicit تاہم.
