mi, ti, mu, ji
Short Dative Pronouns
Dative clitics mark recipients and experiencers.
How It Works
Dative clitics mark recipients and experiencers. Mi and ti mean to me and to you here, despite looking like nominative pronouns elsewhere; their sentence function resolves the difference.
Compare Dam ti knjigo with Vidim te: ti is the recipient, while te is the person seen. The form mi in Ana mi pomaga is not the subject we. The subject Ana controls the singular verb pomaga.
Examples (3)
- Ana mi pomaga.

- Dam ti knjigo.
I give you a book.
- Marko ji piše.
