شاید + بیاید; ممکن است + (که) + بیاید.

How It Works

Person stays in the following verb. Compare شاید بیایم (perhaps I will come) and شاید بیایند (perhaps they will come). شاید remains unchanged.

Negation has scope. ممکن است نیاید says that not coming is possible. ممکن نیست بیاید says coming is not possible. Moving the negative changes the claim.

Do not overread a short form. Perhaps describes the speaker’s stance; it does not by itself prove a particular time or likelihood. Other indicative or past combinations occur in context. This entry teaches the common subjunctive event pattern rather than banning every other construction.

Everyday Iranian speech. شاید بیاد is a casual counterpart of شاید بیاید. Formal prose keeps the written form.
