Present of veire
Veire (to see) is irregular in the present: vesi, veses, vei, vesèm, vesètz, veson.
How It Works
Veire means to see. The stem is ves-, and the third person singular is vei.
| Who | veire |
|---|---|
| ieu | vesi |
| tu | veses |
| el, ela | vei |
| nosautres | vesèm |
| vosautres | vesètz |
| eles, elas | veson |
The word veire is also a noun that means glass, as in un veire d'aiga (a glass of water). The sentence shows which one it is.
In the negative, pas goes after the verb: vei pas (he does not see). The stress moves to the ending in vesèm and vesètz.
To hear, Occitan uses ausir, not veire or sentir.
