far + Infinitive
Making Something Happen
Put far right before the infinitive, and the person or thing that acts after it.
How It Works
| Occitan | English |
|---|---|
| fa venir lo mètge | has the doctor come |
| fa cantar los dròlles | makes the children sing |
| fa reparar la veitura | has the car repaired |
| faguèt venir Joan | had Joan come |
The infinitive stays next to far. Do not put the noun between them: fasèm venir un mètge, not fasèm un mètge venir.
The person who does the action is not always named. Fasèm reparar la veitura does not say who repairs the car.
Far carries the tense, and the infinitive never changes: fasèm venir (present), faguèri venir (simple past), farai venir (future).
