davant, darrièr, sota

In Front, Behind and Under

Level 2

Davant, darrièr and sota say where something is.

How It Works

These three prepositions place one thing against another. The article follows the preposition as usual, and lo or la becomes l' before a vowel.

OccitanEnglish
davant l'ostalin front of the house
darrièr la pòrtabehind the door
sota la taulaunder the table

Use èsser to say where something is: Lo gat es sota la taula. Write darrièr with è, and not the French derrière. For on top, above and below, the Level 3 entry dessús, dejós has the words. For inside and on, see dins and sus.
