cossí vas? cossí anatz?
How Are You
Cossí means how, and the verb anar (to go) is the one used for how things go.
How It Works
The question uses the verb anar (to go), the same verb as in Vau al mercat. It asks how things are going.
| You speak to | Ask | Answer |
|---|---|---|
| a friend (tu) | Cossí vas? | Plan, mercé. E tu? |
| anyone else (vos) | Cossí anatz? | Plan, mercé. E vos? |
The subject pronoun is dropped. The ending -s in vas shows tu, and the ending -tz in anatz shows vos.
Plan means well. It keeps its final n in writing, even though you hardly hear it.
This is a common first sentence after Bonjorn or Adieu.
