aprèp aver + Participle

After Having Done

Level 4

Put aprèp aver before a past participle to say after doing something.

How It Works

OccitanEnglish
aprèp aver manjatafter eating
aprèp aver legitafter reading
aprèp aver trabalhatafter working
aprèp aver fachafter doing

The phrase can come first (Aprèp aver manjat, partissèm) or second (Partissèm aprèp aver manjat).

Use the participle you already know. Regular verbs end in -at or -it (manjat, legit), and irregular ones have their own form (fach, dich, vist).

Verbs that take èsser in the compound past use èsser here, and the participle agrees with the subject: aprèp èsser arribat, aprèp èsser arribada.

This course writes aprèp, with a grave accent and a p at the end. Laus also lists après, and some writers use it, so you will meet both.
