How It Works

ठीक छ is one of the most useful phrases in Nepali.

ठीक छ, धन्यवाद।I am fine, thank you.
मलाई ठीक छ।It is fine with me.
ठीक छैन।It is not fine.

It answers a plan: ठीक छ, म आउँछु (OK, I will come). It also answers a greeting about how you are: ठीक छ, धन्यवाद.

With लाई it names who the thing suits. तपाईंलाई ठीक छ? asks whether it is all right with you.

छ is the verb for a state, so the negative is छैन. ठीक होइन also exists, but it says that something is not right or correct.
