मलाई / तिमीलाई / तपाईंलाई
Pronouns with लाई
Each pronoun has a form with लाई, and two of them change.
How It Works
Pronouns take लाई for the person who receives or is the object of an action.
| Pronoun | With लाई |
|---|---|
| म | मलाई |
| हामी | हामीलाई |
| तिमी | तिमीलाई |
| तपाईं | तपाईंलाई |
| ऊ | उसलाई |
| उनी | उनलाई |
| उहाँ | उहाँलाई |
Use them with दिनु, फोन गर्नु, मन पर्छ and चाहिन्छ: मलाई पानी दिनुहोस् (please give me water).
Always write the pronoun and लाई as one word: मलाई, not म लाई.
Of these seven, two change: ऊ becomes उसलाई and उनी becomes उनलाई. Learn these two as whole words. Pronouns outside this list change too: यो becomes यसलाई, त्यो becomes त्यसलाई and को becomes कसलाई.
The same forms appear with other verbs that take लाई, such as भन्नु (to tell) and सोध्नु (to ask): तपाईंलाई भन्छु means I will tell you.
