सँग

With a Person or Thing

Level 1Sounds Like sam̐ga

सँग joins a noun to say with whom, and it can show what someone has with them.

How It Works

सँग is a postposition that means with. It has two common jobs.

JobExample
Together with someoneम साथीसँग जान्छु।
Has on handमसँग फोन छ।

For the second job, put सँग on the owner, then name the thing, then add छ (is). Nepali usually does not use a verb for have here, so मसँग फोन छ is literally with me a phone is.

With pronouns, use the plain pronoun and add सँग: मसँग, हामीसँग, तिमीसँग, तपाईंसँग, उहाँसँग. ऊ changes a little, as it does before लाई: उससँग. सँग joins the pronoun, never मेरो: write मसँग, not मेरोसँग.

The sign over the vowel in सँग is a chandrabindu, a small moon-and-dot that makes the sound nasal. Spell it the same way each time.
