Negative Commands
न- turns a command into do not, and it joins the verb.
How It Works
To say do not, write न- at the start of the command.

| जाऊ (go, to a friend) | नजाऊ |

The rest of the word stays the same. Only the न- is new.
न- is part of the verb, so it is written without a space: नबस्नुहोस्, not न बस्नुहोस्.
The polite form is the safe choice in public places, signs and shops: यहाँ फोन नगर्नुहोस् (please do not use the phone here).
The negative of the simple present is a different pattern and uses -दैन.

The friend's form नजाऊ has the same न-.

- यहाँ नआऊ।
Do not come here.
आऊ becomes नआऊ.
