-न दिनु

Letting Someone Do Something

Level 3Sounds Like na dinu

-न दिनु means let someone do something.

How It Works

Here दिनु means let, not give. The structure has three parts: who lets, who is let, and what they are let do.

PartExample
who lets (ले)आमाले
who is let (लाई)हामीलाई
-न + दिनुखेल्न दिनुभयो

The verb दिनु changes with the tense and the respect level: दिन्छु, दिन्छ, दिए, दिएन, दिनुभयो. For a command, तिमी uses देऊ: मलाई बोल्न देऊ. तपाईं uses दिनुहोस्: मलाई बोल्न दिनुहोस्.

The negative means not to allow: उसले मलाई जान दिएन (he did not let me go).

Use the -न form before दिनु, not the -नु form.
