Level 4Sounds Like gatē

A Bikram Sambat date is year, month, day, and गते comes after the day number.

How It Works

Nepal's official calendar is Bikram Sambat (वि.सं.). The year is about 57 years ahead of the Gregorian year. The new year starts in mid-April, in वैशाख.

OrderExample
year साल२०८३ साल

day गते१५ गते

The twelve months are वैशाख, जेठ, असार, साउन, भदौ, असोज, कार्तिक, मंसिर, पुष, माघ, फागुन and चैत. Nepali print usually writes the day and year in Devanagari digits.

To ask for the date, say आज कति गते हो? (what is the date today?). The answer is the month and the day: आज कार्तिक १२ गते हो.
