Plural Nouns Before Endings
The plural shape ends in -ां for most nouns. A few feminine nouns in -ी use -ींना, as in मुलींना, but most use -्यांना, as in गाड्यांना.
How It Works
Every ending uses the same plural shape: -ला becomes -ना, and -त usually becomes -मध्ये (घरांत is also correct).

-ला becomes -ना after a plural: मुलाला is to the boy, but मुलांना is to the children.
A few feminine nouns in -ी keep -ी in the plural and become -ीं: मुलगी → मुली → मुलींना. Most take -्या in the plural and become -्यां: गाडी → गाड्या → गाड्यांना. Many masculine nouns in -ी, such as शेजारी, turn -ी into -ऱ्यां: शेजाऱ्यांना. A few, such as कवी and हत्ती, keep -ी and become -ींना: कवींना, हत्तींना. The eyelash र is part of the spelling.
Respected people take the same shape: आजोबांना, काकांना.
Check the ending after the plural: -ला becomes -ना, and -ने becomes -नी (मुलांनी).
The singular and the plural can look close, so compare them: मुलाला (to the boy) and मुलांना (to the children); शाळेत (in the school) and शाळांमध्ये (in the schools).
