Today, Yesterday and Tomorrow

Level 1Sounds Like ā'i, kāl'hi ā parasū

आइ means today; काल्हि means yesterday or tomorrow; परसू is two days away either way.

How It Works

These three words name the days around today.

WordMeaning
आइtoday
काल्हिyesterday or tomorrow
परसूthe day before yesterday or the day after tomorrow

Look at the verb. काल्हि हम जाएब (future) means tomorrow I will go. काल्हि बरखा भेल (past) means it rained yesterday.

आइ also has a stressed form आइए (this very day), and आइ काल्हि means these days.

For days further away, give the weekday name, such as शनिदिन.

The Hindi आज and कल are not used.
