कहियो / कहियो नहि

Ever and Never

Level 2Sounds Like kahiyō ā kahiyō nahi

कहियो means ever or someday, and कहियो नहि means never.

How It Works

UseExample
ever, in a questionअहाँ कहियो पटना गेल छी?
somedayकहियो हमर घर आउ।
neverहम कहियो माछ नहि खएलहुँ।

कहिया (ending in आ) asks when: अहाँ कहिया आएब? कहियो (ending in ओ) means ever or some time. They differ by one sound.

The family of indefinite words follows one pattern: कियो (someone), किछु (something), कतहु (somewhere), कहियो (sometime). Add नहि to each for none: कियो नहि, किछु नहि, कतहु नहि, कहियो नहि.
