से ... तक
From One Point to Another
से ... तक gives a range: from one place, time or number to another.
How It Works
से marks the start and तक marks the end. Together they describe a stretch of place, time or numbers.
| Place | दिल्ली से आगरा तक | from Delhi to Agra |
| Time of day | सुबह से शाम तक | from morning till evening |
| Days | सोमवार से शुक्रवार तक | Monday to Friday |
| Clock time | नौ से पाँच बजे तक | from nine to five |
| Numbers | एक से दस तक | from one to ten |
The range normally comes before the verb: मैं सोमवार से शुक्रवार तक काम करती हूँ.
To describe a noun with the range, add का, की or के after तक, agreeing with the noun: दिल्ली से आगरा तक का सफ़र (the trip from Delhi to Agra), सुबह से शाम तक की मेहनत (work from morning till evening).
You can leave out either half when it is clear: सुबह से (since morning), शाम तक (until evening). Ask about a range with कब से कब तक? (from when until when?) or कहाँ से कहाँ तक? (from where to where?).
