एक-दूसरे
Each Other
एक-दूसरे + postposition = each other: एक-दूसरे से, एक-दूसरे को, एक-दूसरे की मदद.
How It Works
एक-दूसरे literally means one the other. It describes something two or more people do to each other.
| Verb | Each other | English |
|---|---|---|
| बात करना (से) | एक-दूसरे से बात करना | talk to each other |
| प्यार करना (से) | एक-दूसरे से प्यार करना | love each other |
| जानना (को) | एक-दूसरे को जानना | know each other |
| मदद करना (की) | एक-दूसरे की मदद करना | help each other |
To find the right postposition, ask what the verb takes with one person: रीमा से बात करना, रीमा को जानना, रीमा की मदद करना. Then put एक-दूसरे in place of रीमा.
The form is always एक-दूसरे, never एक-दूसरा, because a postposition always follows. With का, की or के, the ending matches the next noun: एक-दूसरे की मदद (मदद is feminine), एक-दूसरे का नंबर.
In the past with ने, the usual rules apply. बच्चों ने एक-दूसरे को देखा has the default देखा, because the object has को.
For oneself rather than each other, use ख़ुद or अपने आप.
