Always and All: Meme

Level 4

Meme means “always” or “all”: ogueru meme “he brings it often”, oho meme “they all went”.

How It Works

Meme is a small word with two related meanings. The sentence shows which one is meant.

  • “Always” or “often”: Ogueru meme “He brings it often”. One person repeats the action.
  • “All” or “all together”: Oho meme hapére “They all went their way”. Several people do the same thing.

Meme comes right after the word it is about. It is a different word from the ending -pa “all, finished”. The ending goes on the verb, as in ohopa hikuái “they all went”, and meme stands after the verb, as in oho meme. Both can say that everyone took part.

Meme is stressed on its last syllable. For habits you can also use jepi “usually”.
